Slice of Life

What made afraid of heights…

When I first got my ipod, I went to New York to visit my Uncle. During the time there, my family and I went to a place called Top of the Rock. It was a long time ago so that might not be the name. Anyway, Top of the Rock was a place you could see the view of New York City way up high. When we got there I was so excited to take pictures with my new ipod. Once we got to the top, I whipped out my ipod to take some photos of the busy streets below. As I crouched near the metal bars the camera suddenly zoomed. It gave me the illusion of falling. I freaked out and dropped my ipod. When I realized that I didn’t actually fall off the tall building, I scrambled to my ipod to see if it was cracked. Luckily, it was not and I went back into the building to watch from behind the safety of a window.

Glow sticks, Gems, and Stars

If you’re a glow stick, then you have to break before you shine. That’s okay; because once you shine you can lead people through the darkness, through their problems. You will be a colorful and awesome addition to someone’s life. Sometimes people are precious gems… trapped inside a rock. You are a wonderful person but also a wonderful introvert. Some people won’t bother to break down that wall you put around you. As for the people that do, treasure them. People also could be a star. Natural born extrovert and optimists, forever making people laugh and smile. You are the person that people tell everything. Everybody is perfect in their own special way. Keep being you. Keep being happy.

My OLW

My OLW is achieve. This word will help motivate me throughout the school year.

Synonym: accomplish

Antonym: fail

My OLW will also help me reach goals outside of school. Maybe even my New Years resolutions!

Reflective Writing

In the beginning of the year I struggled with the pace of Accelerated  Math and had a panic attack almost every Friday night but now I put in a lot more time into math. I tell myself when I’m stressed or scared that once everything is over it will be no big deal anymore. I think I have become a stronger individual because of this.

IMWAYR

I’m reading “The Knife of Never Letting Go” by Patrick Ness. This book is filled with twists and turns accompanied by exhilarating chases through the unknown.  Although the beginning is kind of slow and confusing, when you get past that part everything will start to make sense as the story unravels before your eyes. I recommend this book to mystery  loving , adventure loving, and patient people.

Aftermath of Pearl Harbor

On December 7th, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii early in the morning. Many soldiers died because of the surprise bombing. Now, in Pearl Harbor, there is a memorial for all the lost naval veterans. As for the Japanese but american citizens, they were no longer safe in their own home. The legal Japanese citizens were dragged to camps, no longer in possession of their  houses. Most stayed at the camp for 4 years. All of this is what started the U.S involvement in World War 2. After U.S dropped two atomic bombs on Japan they finally surrendered and we won the war.

Special Homework

Yesterday,  we had a special request from our teacher. Usually, homework would be a horrid, untamed mess of suffering and tears… but this time was different. This time children were not clutching their head in frustration. This time students were not miserably sitting on the couch and neglecting their homework. Oh yes, this time was different.  This time students jumped for joy at the mention of homework and got right to work. We were doing something respectable too! What’s that? You want to know what the special assignment was? Well, okay! In honor of Ms. Haseltine’s late father we… ate ice cream! You see, her Dad loved the cold, creamy goodness!

Make It Up To Me

Make  It Up To Me

(not the original)

Was I not good enough?

Was I not your friend?

What did I do

to make you betray me to no end?

I gave you so many so many pieces of  my heart,

You saw me in tears,

I told you my fears,

And what do get in return?

Nothing.
Make up to me.
